Study in California, USA

"When I am not studying it is easy to stay active in Chico. I like to take walks in town, go to the gym, and have enjoyed skiing trips to Mount Shasta and Lake Tahoe." ALCI Chico student H. Kim

The benefits of studying in California

Many US and international students flock to the Golden State each year to learn new skills, see the sights and make lifelong friends. California boasts one of the largest economies in the world and is an international epicenter for the education, entertainment and technology industries. While it certainly embodies Western American culture, California is a liberal state with a culturally diverse population.

    Enjoy the stunning Chico scenery

Chico is located in the Sacramento Valley, an agricultural region in northern California. It is surrounded by coastal mountains to the west and the Cascade and Sierra Nevada mountain ranges to the north and east. Many of our students say that living in Chico is one of the greatest privileges of studying at ALCI as it is an attractive, friendly and affordable university town. With a population of 100,000, Chico combines the charm and comfort of a small college town with the cultural and recreational benefits of a larger city.

    Visit California’s breathtaking attractions

Chico is in a great location for visits to a number of top California attractions. The state capital, Sacramento, is just 90 miles away, offering plenty of tourist attractions, museums and shopping venues. The world-famous Lake Tahoe is just 150 miles away, offering fantastic outdoor activities throughout the year including hiking, swimming and skiing. There is plenty to do in San Francisco (170 miles away), including visits to the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz and the city’s live music venues, many of which can be reached by cable car. Students can drive down the famous Big Sur en route to Los Angeles (475 miles away), where they will gain access to Hollywood, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Venice Beach and Beverley Hills.
